Responding to today’s National Audit Office report Lord Toby Harris, Chair of National Trading Standards, said:
“I welcome the publication of this important report by the National Audit Office. I am particularly pleased that it highlights the positive impact of National Trading Standards since it was established in 2012. As the report identifies, in 2014/15 alone National Trading Standards prevented £252 million worth of detriment to consumers and the cost-benefit ratio of our work is around 20 to 1.
“We are committed to protecting consumers and safeguarding legitimate businesses and look forward to working with our partners across the consumer protection landscape to build on the report’s findings and enhance our work to protect consumers.”
